Australian 'Thronies' have been made to wait a little longer after Foxtel online and On Demand services crashed.
In a Facebook post, Foxtel informed their followers they were "experiencing problems" due to the demand.
"We are devastated that due to unprecedented demand, we are experiencing problems with our online services this evening," the post said.
"Obviously this comes at a time when so many of our customers are wanting to watch the first episode of season 7 of Game of Thrones."
"The show's producer and US broadcaster, HBO, reported its technical systems could not cope and in Australia, the surge of demand for Foxtel's recently launched online product, Foxtel Now, also experienced customer meltdown," the statement said.
"We are devastated that some customers experienced technical issues tonight," said Foxtel spokesman, Bruce Meagher. "As was the case in the US and Latin America, the unprecedented rush for a subscription just prior to the telecast, crashed the system. Foxtel engineers are working through the night to resolve the issue.
"We assure anyone impacted that they will be able to watch the first episode of Season 7 either On Demand or via one of our encore screenings throughout the week. We will continue to communicate with affected customers to ensure they are fully informed."
Foxtel confirmed they were experiencing problems after an outpour of social media backlash.
One user commented on the page's pervious post telling fans to "catch the ENCORE screening at 8:30pm est".
"I would love to but Foxtel is down and I can't login. App on the iPad and Telstra TV app both aren't working and can't login on your website. Hopefully it's fixed soon!" the comment read.
"GOT premiere date was known for over a year, this date was advertised by you for the last 6 months. Why was this demand 'unprecedented'? What is 'unprecedented' about the most watched show in the world premiering after a year's gap?" a Facebook user asked.
Many customers have called for a refund and are threatening to leave the company.
"All good. We'll be cancelling after nearly 17 years of continuous services. We gave you over a year to get the on demand service working and it either fails miserably or series that you have exclusive rights to are woefully represented in the on demand," said a Facebook user. "Was good while it lasted but we'll get our streaming content elsewhere at a far lower cost."
"Think you'll be losing a lot of customers, myself included!!" another wrote.
Foxtel assured the user and "everyone else experiencing problems" that they were doing everything they could to resolve the problem.
"We can confirm there is an outage at the moment for our online services (Foxtel Now, Play, and the Foxtel App). Our Online team are on the case investigating the issue and are working to have it resolved as soon as possible. The Long Night is here but hopefully it won't be much longer."
Foxtel has apologised for the frustration this situation has caused Game of Thrones fans.
