When Ned Stark's head was chopped off by Joffrey on the steps of the Great Sept of Baelor, most Game of Thrones fans thought they had seen the last of him.
But the actor behind the only noble man in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, Sean Bean, has stuck his longsword in it.

He's confirmed what many avid readers of the series have suspected for some years.
Ned Stark is not Jon Snow's father.
"I've definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there." Bean told Vulture. "I'm obviously not Jon Snow's dad. And you need that to be revealed at some point, don't you?"
"You know nothing, Jon Snow," if he's going to claim the Iron throne - he might have to learn something quick smart. Photo: HBO
Ned's alleged illegitimate relationship with Snow's mother is only mentioned fleetingly throughout the series.
Even the crow-of-few-words Snow acknowledges the lack of tribute given by George R.R. Martin to his mother.
"Even his own mother had not had a place for him," he said in the first book in the series.
"Because she was a whore or an adulteress, fool. Something dark and dishonourable, or else why was Lord Eddard too ashamed to speak of her?"
For the conspiracy theorists of Westeros, Bean's revelation has all but confirmed a long held theory.
Snow is the bastard son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Ned's murdered sister, Lyanna.
In the first novel in the series, Ned ponders on the journey of bastard children, his thoughts move from Snow, to Lyanna and finally to Rheagar - implying at least a tenuous link between the three.
If George R.R. Martin confirms this theory in the coming novels, then Snow becomes a legitimate contender for the iron throne.
He's only got wildlings, a wall, winter and all of Westeros to deal with first.
