Lee Majors as Colonel Steve Austin in The Six Million Dollar Man.
It's the return that has baby boomer science fiction fans jumping up and down with excitement – and making strange noises as they do it – The Six Million Dollar Man is back.
Thirty-five years after the beloved action series starring Lee Majors ended its five-season run, it has been confirmed Colonel Steve Austin, the former astronaut given almost super powers by the addition of "bionic implants", will return for season six.
But it's not quite the return TV fans will want. He's back, but only in comic book form at this stage.

Publisher Dynamite Entertainment has confirmed it will release a monthly comic with the title The Six Million Dollar Man: Season Six to pick up from where we last saw Colonel Austin.
They are promising to somehow replicate all the favourite moments from the series, including the aforementioned noises when Austin used his bionic legs to jump and the slow-motion effect when he ran: "and all the oddities of that era", Dynamite writer James Kuhoric said.
And interestingly, the comics will reference the toys that were sold at the time of the original series as much as the series itself.
"In discussions, we contemplated: why not bring into the series a villain whom fans would know from the toys, even though he wasn't in the TV series?" Dynamite publisher Nick Barrucci told The Hollywood Reporter.
"Why not have a villain who could be the Joker to Steve Austin's Batman, or Doctor Octopus to his Spider-Man?"
That villain would be Maskatron, marketed by Kenner toys in the 1970s as "The robotic master of disguise".
"The Maskatron toy was my favourite toy growing up," Ross said.
"I played with it to death, turning it into different characters from The Six Million Dollar Man, as well as other comic book characters that I could turn it into. I'm thrilled to help bring it to life in a full storyline."
The comics will be sold from February next year.
