Tasmanian couple and parents of seven Grant and Brooke Lovekin have become the first couple to be eliminated on House Rules.

Monday night's episode showed the final renovation reveal of South Australian couple Bomber and Mel's house.

At the end of the scoring, the Lovekins had the lowest score, forcing them to be eliminated from the competition.

Former Canberran Grant said they were ready to leave the competition, and are still blown away by the experience.

"We really tried our hardest, but we just didn't happen to do well enough through the middle of the competition to get the points we needed to stay in," he said.

"I think it's obvious that Brooke was just ready to come home. Brooke's heart wasn't quite in it to continue on. So realistically where we finished was a good thing for us in the long run."

Before going on the show, the family of nine was struggling to fit into a rundown 2.5 bedroom and one bathroom cottage.

Their house was transformed to include five bedrooms and two bathrooms, and became the first house on House Rules to have an extension added, which Grant says has completely changed their lives.

"One of the main reasons I wanted to enter was so that I could help other people's lives change, so for them to help our life change was a very humbling experience," he said.

Now that the show's over, the family is looking forward to life with their new house.

"We're back home now and all living happily ever after in our new home," he said.

Over the weekend the Lovekins played host to Grant's parents and younger brother from Canberra, who went down to inspect the makeover.

"It'll be the first time they've seen the house so they're pumped," he said.

Grant said his family had been watching the show from back at home, although they hadn't always been happy with how things played out.

"I think mum's a little bit disappointed on how they've broadcast Brooke, being such the villain," he said.

"She's not like that in real life, but at the end of the day it is reality TV and they need a villain and they can portray outcomes any way they want."

House Rules continues at 7.30pm Tuesday night on Prime.
