VETERAN football commentator Sandy Roberts denies reports he has left Channel 7 after 34 years to work for rival television station Fox Footy.
News Limited newspaper websites reported on Tuesday night that football television station Fox Footy had head-hunted Mr Roberts for a job hosting programs and considered the deal a "major coup given his reputation as a fan favourite in AFL circles."
Fox Footy is also owned by News Limited.
But Mr Roberts said he would continue to work for Channel Seven in line with his contract in a statement emailed to Fairfax Media by a Channel 7 spokeswoman.
“Reports that I have a deal with Fox Footy are inaccurate – nor have they made me an offer," he said.
The report did not quote any official sources at either television network but said that Mr Roberts would be hired to call games and also host some of Fox Footy's "regular one-off specials."
