"You know nothing Jon Snow."
Kit Harington, who plays the beleagured yet smouldering Snow in mega-successful fantasy drama TV series Game of Thrones, hears this "quite a lot" in everyday life. He also gets called "the bastard" regularly by complete strangers.
"People I'm working with call me the wrong name," he says. "I get 'Hey Jon, can you pass me that?"
Who will live and die in the Game of Thrones?
Game of Thrones season 4: Queen regent Cersei Lannister and Ser Jaime Lannister.
Harington, who is in Sydney to promote Game of Thrones' upcoming fourth season and Pompeii (his first feature film in a star role), does not mind.
He is busy and hellbent on discussing being a gladiator while Mount Vesuvius explodes rather than reveal what happens next in the Thrones series.
"I can't really talk about it," he says.
But what of Snow, bastard son of Eddard Stark (or is he?), who - after being shot with arrows by his lover, Free Folk spearwife Ygritte - has returned to Castle Black?
"It's a big one for Jon," Harington says. "He says more. He talks more. He doesn't open up about [Ygritte]. He doesn't open up about that at all really. He's not a modern man in any way."
Instead, Snow must lead men and internalise, as always, his concerns. Of all the Game of Thrones characters, Snow's moody introversion has inspired perhaps the most internet memes.
"Well, he doesn't have a lot to smile about," Harington says. "He really doesn't. If you think about it there are not many times in the script or books where it says 'Jon laughs hysterically'."
Game Of Thrones Season 4 premieres in Australia on Foxtel's Showcase on April 7.
