Matt White resigns from Today Tonight
Calling it a night ... Matt White.
MATT WHITE has resigned from his hosting role on Today Tonight, with Channel Seven expected to announce a replacement within days.
While the popular presenter insists it was his decision to walk away from the current affairs flagship, Fairfax Media understands the program faces a major overhaul in a bid to claw back ratings from Nine's A Current Affair in the key Sydney and Melbourne markets.
White will remain with the Seven Network, which lost its director of news and public affairs, Peter Meakin, who resigned this week after nine years with the network.
The changes at Seven are part of a broader upheaval in Australia's television industry, with the ailing Ten Network sacking several prominent newsreaders and Nine recently striking an eleventh-hour deal to restructure its debt-laden empire.
