Mel B and Benji Madden will be the new coaches joining Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden in the first season of The Voice Kids Australia.

The former Spice Girl, known for her brash persona Scary Spice, has a 20-year career as a singer and performer, television personality and author. Australian audiences have come to know the English recording artist as a judge on The X Factor and a co-presenter on Dancing With the Stars.

“I'm so excited to be going back to my second home and returning to Australian television this year,” she said, adding via Twitter, “The weather the food the people this is my home.”

Mel B will be a judge on The Voice Kids.

“I will be joining a great lineup of coaches on The Voice Kids. It's going to be so much fun, and I can't wait to get started.”

Benji Madden and his twin Joel are best known as the pop rock band Good Charlotte, who have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. The Maryland-born twins are set to release their debut album as The Madden Brothers later this year.

“I'm really glad to be back in Australia," Benji said. "I'm always happy to work with my brother and especially to be a part of The Voice Kids. I always jump at the chance to mentor kids when it comes to music.”

The Voice Kids, hosted by Darren McMullen and broadcast on the Nine Network, invites children from around the country aged eight to 14 to compete to impress the team of coaches.

Nine Network director of development Adrian Swift described the show as “the best stage in town” for young Australian voices “with a dream of finding an audience”.
