Angela and Melina are facing the chopping block.

Angela and Melina could make a comeback much to Ashlee and Sophia's disgust.

Eliminated contestants from My Kitchen Rules (MKR) will be back in the hot seat next Sunday when the Seven Network ratings hit attempts to take on The Voice.

The second season of the Nine Network's reality talent show launches before The Logies and Seven is hoping to draw viewers away by giving the ousted competitors a chance to regain a place in the MKR finals.

Seven says the teams to take on the challenge in the first two-hour special will be Tasmania's Ali and Samuel, Angela and Melina from Victoria, West Australian food geeks Kieran and Nastassia and the father-and-son Tasmanian team Mick and Matt.

The episode will see Sydney chef Colin Fassnidge set challenges at his 4Fourteen restaurant, where contestants will cook for paying customers as well as judges Manu Feildel and Pete Evans.

"Everyone has bad days in the kitchen, but now's the time to step up," Fassnidge said.

"We have a restaurant full of paying customers - it's about plating up your best every time. Customers won't pay for mistakes."

The judges agree it will be tough for the teams to take on the challenge of a restaurant kitchen.

"They're used to racing the clock at Kitchen HQ, but service with a room full of paying customers can be very intimidating," Evans said.

My Kitchen Rules special episodes launch at 6.30pm on April 7, at the same time as the season 2 launch of The Voice.
