He's the man who dared to step into Dr Patrick's shoes on Offspring.
And now, Patrick Brammall isn't so sure he made the right choice.
The Australian actor says he has started getting recognised since joining the cast of Network Ten's hit show.
He plays Leo, a male midwife with whom Asher Keddie's Nina Proudman has a one-night stand with, despite being haunted by the memory of her late partner, Patrick.
For his part, Brammall isn't confident fans of the show were happy about the hook up.
"I'm getting looks in the street," he told Nova radio station. "But I can't yet discern if it's hatred or love."
Brammall also confessed he'd turned to a friend and joked about which actor would have to replace Matt Le Nevez's hunky anaesthetist while watching his emotional death last year.
"I said, I pity the fool who's got to follow that act," he recalled. "Self pity, in the end."
But for viewers wondering if Leo might become Patrick's permanent replacement, one answer seemed to suggest not.
Speaking about his work on the show, he tellingly used the past tense to describe the role. "It was a dream gig, honestly," he said.
