What might have been a hilarious after-dinner game played with chums after several bottles of shiraz is nothing short of painful to watch when transplanted into the contrived setting of a television studio. Despite the promise of witty wordplay among the city's sharpest minds, what transpires is a game of Trivial Pursuit among people trying far too hard to be funny with the puerile material they have to work with. The round two contestants, comedians Anthony Morgan, Chris Taylor, Dave O'Neil and host Andrew Denton's wife, Jennifer Byrne, make a valiant effort, but elicit none of the linguistic riddles that make British highbrow trivia show QI such a pleasure to watch.
