Sydney shock jock Ray Hadley had enough of Nine's Today host Karl Stefanovic's questions on Tuesday morning.PT1M30S http://www.canberratimes.com.au/action/externalEmbeddedPlayer?id=d-3bxzi 620 349 July 15, 2014
Today show presenter Karl Stefanovic has enlisted the nation as matchmakers for radio host Ray Hadley, who walked out on Stefanovic during an interview on Tuesday morning.
"I'm just trying to find Raymond love," Stefanovic said in a statement that afternoon. "He works hard and deserves it. He has a tough shell but a heart made of marshmallow. Pls help."
Hadley appeared all shell and no marshmallow just before 7am when he pulled out his earpiece and walked off mid-interview, but it turned out to be a big joke.
It's personal ... Ray Hadley storms out of Today interview.
The Today show host asked radio presenter Hadley if he was ‘‘seeing anyone’’ in a planned interview shortly before 7am this morning.
After accusing Stefanovic of ‘‘perpetuating myths’’ Hadley pulled out his earpiece and got up to walk off the set. The cameras then cut back to Stefanovic.
The interview was already awkward. Whilst talking about the plans of Mosman Council to allow parking police to fine speeding drivers, Hadley questioned whether the segment was really news.
Later when discussing rules for the use of drones in Darwin, Hadley called Stefanovic ‘‘irresponsible’’ for allowing his children to play with one.
In response Stefanovic put up his hands in a mock boxing gesture.
But it was the point when Stefanovic asked about Hadley’s personal life that really tipped the balance.
"Any private conversation we may have, you can’t keep to yourself," Hadley told Stefanovic."There was a report last week that I was dating Delta Goodrem’s mum. I’ve never been to breakfast with her. Stop trying to perpetuate myths."
He then got up to leave the set as Stefanovic chuckled.
Hadley and his wife Suzanne were married for 20 years when they announced their separation in 2011.
Hadley told Stefanovic that he met Delta’s mum in the dry cleaners where they were both separately dropping off clothes.
Addressing the "Clive-Palmer-style walkout" on his 2GB radio program on Tuesday morning, Hadley said it was all a g-up.
"Karl Stefanovic and I are really good mates, we had a bit of a joke," Hadley told his listeners.
He said the Today show segment came after members of his Continuous Call Team, a rugby league focussed weekend radio program, had attempted to find a partner for himself and mate, station owner, John Singleton. "It was already awkward."
Meanwhile Delta has since responded on Twitter to say: "My Mum is an Amazing, Gorgeous, Fun, Smart & Inspiring woman. He or any man should be so lucky xx"
It seems even more awkward now.
