Angie Bowie quits Celebrity Big Brother

David Bowie's ex-wife Angie Bowie has quit the UK reality television show Celebrity Big Brother.

Her exit comes days after Channel 5 was criticised for broadcasting Angie's reaction to the music legend's death on January 10.

The former model and writer initially said in the episode that she would stay in the house despite the death of her husband, with whom she has a son, Duncan Jones.

"If I don't leave, I look callous. If I stay I look callous. I'd prefer to be here but I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't," Angie Bowie said.

But a spokesperson for Channel 5 has confirmed that she has since decided against pressing on with the show.

They said she had fallen sick and left the house due to health troubles.

"After being unwell for a few days, Angie Bowie has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house. Her exit will be addressed in tonight's live show on Channel 5 at 9pm."

Angie's exit comes a day after another housemate, music veteran David Gest, also left the contest for health reasons, and reality TV star Jonathan Cheban left the house earlier this month after complaining of claustrophobia.
