Sarah Lund and Ulrik Strange in The KillingSarah Lund og Ulrik Strange.jpg

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Gabriel Wilder The Killing's Sarah Lund is a terrific protagonist. She's flawed - as we all are - but she's also smart, focused and capable.

Debi Enker If the first (impressive and engrossing) series is any guide, there's a long way to go, many twists, turns and red herrings.

Debi Enker With its deliberate pacing and muted colours, this adaptation of the Danish series remains unusually quiet for an American crime drama.

Paul Kalina In sharp contrast to most police procedurals, this one doesn't play out according to a formula of signposted "reveals" or stereotyped villains.

Larissa Dubecki Quiet and bleak where others are bombastic and overblown, The Killing is not your usual crime procedural drama.

The first series was amazing and this one almost as good. They have managed to generate incredible levels of tension through connections with the characters and a buzzing plot. The Scandinavians do movies and TV differently to the English-speaking world and it's immensely pleasing to see things through different eyes. It's actually worth buying the DVD's, especially since you can't download with subtitles!
