WIN Television in Canberra is losing its ratings-winning team of newsreader Danielle Post and sports presenter Greg Thomson as well as senior reporter Gemma Coombe.

All three will have left the station by the end of the month to take on new jobs in bigger cities.
Post’s final on-air day will be June 29. She is moving to Sydney to work on Nine News’ chief of staff desk, with no on-air role as this stage. She is also currently the chief-of-staff for WIN in Canberra.
Thomson will sign off next Friday as WIN’s sports editor and presenter to work for Sky News in Melbourne. He’ll be on air working predominantly on sports stories.
And Coombe will leave WIN on June 14, taking a role as assistant chief of staff for Seven News in Sydney, also a behind-the-scenes role.
Their departures leave a big hole in the WIN newsroom which is renowned for fostering new talent.
Past reporters and presenters on WIN in Canberra have included Seven’s Melissa Doyle and Samantha Armytage, Ten’s Hamish Macdonald and Lachlan Kennedy and Seven’s Gabrielle Boyle.
Originally from Kellyville in Sydney, Post came to Canberra in mid-2010 from Wollongong and has seen WIN’s news ratings increase.
She has quickly established herself as a popular figure in Canberra, not only drawing in viewers but also asked to be the ambassador for local charities.
Post has been on leave but will return on Monday to continue to present the news for WIN until her departure.
Thomson, 25, originally from Brisbane, has been in Canberra for six years. He worked at Southern Cross Ten for 3 years and has been presenting sport for WIN for 2 years.
He is looking forward to the challenge of reporting in sports-mad Melbourne where he’ll be able to follow his AFL team Hawthorn.
‘‘I’m excited for a new challenge. Am I sad? Yeah, I’m sad,’’ Thomson said. ‘‘But I think change is good. It’s good for the network, it’s good for the viewers.’’
Coombe, 27, is a Canberra girl, studying communications at the University of Canberra. She previously worked for Prime in Wagga Wagga and as an online journalist for Prime in Canberra.
She has been with WIN for 2 years, establishing herself as an all-rounder.
She, too, has mixed feelings about leaving Canberra.
‘‘I’m sad about it but also very excited,’’ she said. ‘‘It will mean a fresh new team.’’
A spokeswoman for WIN Television said there was no confirmation yet on the new on-air presenters for Canberra.
Media expert, Grey general manager Tony Mansfield, said he didn’t expect a ratings drop for WIN News.
‘‘In the almost three years that Danielle Post has worked as news presenter and chief of staff for WIN Canberra, WIN News has seen their audience figures improve steadily,’’ Mr Mansfield said.
‘‘While her departure will no doubt be a temporary setback for the station, they have a large pool of on-air talent to choose from when filling her role, and we anticipate WIN News to continue to maintain their position as Canberra’s number one local news.’’
