X Factor voting defies the odds
Bella performs Angel ... X Factor 2012
Bella Ferraro was the first act to appear in The X Factor auditions this year, and last night she became the last contestant eliminated prior to the final next week.
Ferraro found herself in the sudden death sing off against the X Factor created boy band The Collective, in which she performed a rendition of Sarah McLachlan's Angel.
You are all amazing and inspire me every week and the best three are in the final.
Ferraro's elimination follows the exit of 14 year old Shiane Hawke last week, meaning the hotly tipped 'girls' group have no representatives in the final. The result sees Natalie Bassingthwaighte become the first mentor with no entrants only two weeks after she was on top with two of the last five.

The 18 year old from New South Wales was one of the early favourites to win the competition once the final twelve were announced, however her odds had consistently blown out in recent weeks despite only having appeared once before in the bottom two.
The Collective, who appeared in the bottom two for the second week running, lost their status as most likely winner according to bookmakers overnight following the result, with Over-25's artist Samantha Jade installed as the new favourite.
The group, which was put together from a selection of solo artists who auditioned for the Seven Network reality show, join country boy Jason Owen and West Australian Jade who were the first through to the final and spared a sing-off.

The result would appear to back up Ronan Keating's theory that the teen girls who flock to support the boy bands on social media aren't backing it up with votes.
"The young girls aren't voting," he told Fairfax. "Parents own the phones, they pay the bills and young girls don't vote, they don't get on the phone. The mums are voting for Jason [Owen]."
The decision on the elimination saw Guy Sebastian left with the casting vote, choosing between elminating The Collective or putting the result back on the viewers with a Deadlock after Ferraro had the nod from her mentor Bassingthwaighte and former Spice Girl Mel B, while Keating stuck with his group The Collective.

Sebastian said he sent the result to deadlock because the two artists were competing in "different genres."
Deadlock is decided by the viewer's original votes.
"We are staring at two great acts," Sebastian said during the live telecast.

"We are talking about the battle of two different genres.
"Out of respect I am sending it to deadlock."
Ferraro did well to hold back tears while she thanked a number of people including her parents and Bassingthwaighte.
Tears started pouring down her face when she started praising The Collective, Owen and Jade.
"You are all amazing and inspire me every week and the best three are in the final," Ferraro said.
Bassingthwaighte was sad to see the end of her protege after three months.
"She has so much heart and so much soul and she was the only contestant to have a song in the charts every single week in the competition."
Meanwhile Keating's goal of creating a One Direction-style Australian boy band out of The X Factor is on target with The Collective's progress to next week's grand final. One Direction finished third in the UK X Factor final in 2010.
"One Direction didn't win," Keating told Fairfax. "They were third. People don't vote for groups – I'm not moaning – I do feel that Australia will embrace the Collective no matter what's on the show. They deserve to do really well. They have what we are looking for, they have the X factor, the judging panel knows it."
Owen, Jade and The Collective will appear on next Monday night's show and then return Tuesday to hear who has won prizes including a recording contract with Sony.
Tuesday's Results show was the top rating show for the night, with 1.5 million viewers across the five metro capitals.
