Swimmers at Manly Beach evacuated the water this afternoon after a small shark was seen in the surf.
A spokesman for Manly council said the shark was about three to four foot-long (0.9 metres to 1.2 metres-long) and was spotted about 2pm.
"It was very small," he said. "Just a little baby."

The council spokesman said the lifesavers did not know what the breed was but said it looked like a wobbegong.
The beach was given the all clear a short time later and swimmers have since re-entered the water.
@DeborahClay posted a picture on twitter at 3.29pm of dozens of people in the surf, commenting "Brave people back in the water after today's shark sighting at Manly Beach #Manly #Shark #Sydney".
