Melbourne zoo animals have received special treats this Christmas with wrapped festive food presents in their enclosures.
The gifts included fruits, nuts and chickens as the zoo's Sumatran tigers, western lowland gorillas, Sumatran orangutans and meerkats busily tore into their gifts on Sunday.
Sibling rivalry got the best of the tigers with brother Aceh hogging all the presents, Melbourne zoo spokeswoman Judith Henke said.
"Dominant brother Aceh took both of the presents - each one contained a small chicken. Brother Hutan chose to sit in the bamboo instead," she said.
The orangutans enjoyed parcels of fruits and nuts, while the gorillas sat in a sociable family group enjoying cherries and strawberries in addition to their usual vegetarian treats.
Baby Meerkats were puzzled by the wrappings and parcels, but followed their mother and soon got stuck into their Christmas treats.
