Four OzLotto ticket holders -including two from Victoria - have become instant multimillionaires.

They are the people holding the winning numbers for the biggest lottery ever held in Australia that carried total prizemoney of just under $112 million.

The two other winners are from Queensland and New South Wales, a spokeswoman for Tatts Lotteries said.

The identity of the winners is not yet known but Tatts Lotteries confirmed four people split the jackpot, each receiving $27,993,037.

For having the numbers 29, 43, 8, 7, 15, 2 and 13 with supps 21 and 20, they will each take home $27.9 million.

With the chances of winning at around 45-million-to-one, luck has struck four times.

The last time the jackpot went past $100 million was in 2009, when two winners took home a share of $106 million, after the $90 million draw was increased due to high sales.

It capped a a massive day for gambling, with Australians shovelling in around $250 million on the Melbourne Cup and then turning to OzLotto looking for a short cut to untold riches.

  • I am wondering why the division 1 is so high, it would be better for all if the prize money was spread over all the divisions that way minor winners could enjoy a decent quid.

    • Ironically, if the top prize was not so big, not as many people would enter, therefore the top prize would not get that high.

    • Totally agree, one number off and the prize is only around $30,000, two numbers off and you get the measly sum of about $300! The pool needs to definitely spread a bit more.
Mind you if I got Division One, I wouldn't complain!

    • But then not as many people would buy tickets, so the jackpot wouldn't be so high.

    • Is it just me or has the likelihood of winning decreased since it all went computerised? I recall more frequent wins, be they small, in the days of the carbon copy ticket.
