Australian aid organisations face months of limbo after the government revealed on Friday it would direct almost half a billion dollars tied to existing aid programs to Papua New Guinea.

But a spokeswoman for International Development Minister Melissa Parke was on Monday unable to disclose which programs would be cut, saying specific details about the cuts would be revealed ''in due course''.
Spokesman for Care Australia Andrew Buchanan said the agency was experiencing ''certainly more than a headache'' after the announcement.
While hopeful none of the $20 million in funding Care receives would be cut, Mr Buchanan urged the government to give the sector certainty. ''There's a question mark about which money will be available for projects that we've planned,'' he said.
Under the Millennium Development Goals Australia signed - with 188 other countries - it agreed to increase its foreign aid spending to 0.5 per cent of gross national income by 2015-16. It has deferred the goal three times.
