Hungry times in the House

Opposition spokesman for resources Gary Gray searches for an ad hoc snack on the floor of Parliament.

Is this the Kevin Rudd earwax moment of the 44th Parliament?

Opposition spokesman for resources Gary Gray has been caught on camera – seemingly eating his own hair.

As Labor colleague David Feeney addresses the House of Representatives, Mr Gray, seated just behind on the frontbench, is seen scratching his head, pulling something from the right side of his scalp, inspecting his find – and then nibbling on it.

It seems the House of Representatives can work up an appetite for more than just debate.

In 2007, video emerged of Kevin Rudd eating his own earwax during question time years earlier - but at least he did that from the relative privacy of the backbench.
