Labor has called on the government to restore $4.5 billion in foreign aid funding, accusing Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop of turning her back on a commitment not to cut aid to Pacific nations.

On Monday the Opposition's parliamentary secretary for foreign affairs, Matt Thistlethwaite, will move a motion in Parliament calling on the government to reinstate the $4.5 billion in foreign aid funding cuts.
The government announced in January where the 2013-14 cuts would fall, seven months in to the financial year.
Mr Thistlethwaite said he and deputy Labor leader Tanya Plibersek had accompanied Ms Bishop on a visit to the Solomon Islands, Nauru and Vanuatu in December, where Ms Bishop promised the Pacific leaders there would be no cuts to the overseas development aid that Australia was providing to their countries.
A spokeswoman for Ms Bishop said: ''The official record of the meetings do not support Labor's claims."
