It would make the ACT's Katy Gallagher the only leader left flying the flag for a Labor government. With this thought in mind on Sunday, Prime Minister Tony Abbott took to the stage in Adelaide for the South Australian Liberal campaign launch. ''Six months ago, we had a change of government in Canberra,'' he began. ''What we need next weekend is a change of government here in Adelaide.''
He said the Abbott government was building a ''fair go'' future, and commended state Liberal Leader Steven Marshall.
Praising Mr Marshall as a man with a plan for South Australia, Mr Abbott could not resist a historical reference: ''Let me say that the Marshall Plan will do at least as much for this state of South Australia as a different Marshall Plan did for post-war Europe''. The United States conceived what became known as the Marshall plan in the wake of World War II, to rebuild the continent in the interest of political stability.
