Tony Abbott's government srsly needs to get a handle on the Senate

It was Thursday evening and a weary Senate was deep in the throes of a debate on the mining tax. Coalition MP Ian Macdonald was giving his speech in support of the repeal, dressed in a lurid orange miner's shirt, which had been embossed with his name and kindly provided by Australians for Coal.
