The most charismatic judge?

One of the few contestants NOT to have had a facelift, Marion from MasterChef, was "fired" from Celebrity Apprentice on Thursday night for being too nice. This is not going to help.

Disaster for Nine as Celebrity Apprentice, aka Room Full of Facelifts, dismisses all the ratings gains from The Voice, and disaster for Ten as promo-overload causes a backlash on Offspring. But Ten can take comfort from the news that Offspring was number two most watched show with women 18-49 (after The Block).

Just another talent quest? Apparently not. Nobody has seen numbers like this before for a singing show (to see how The Voice compares with the record-breakers, go to Australia's most watched TV shows of all time).

Is it the revolving chairs? The flashing lights? Keith Urban's hair? Joel Madden's tattoos? Seal's scars? The absence of Kyle Sandilands?

The Australian appetite for soppy singers is endless. The Voice destroyed Dancing With The Stars on Sunday then added 400,000 viewers to destroy Revenge and Australia's Got Talent on Monday.  How do you explain the appeal of The Voice?
