Chief Minister Katy Gallagher officially switched on the SIDS & Kids ACT Christmas Lights in the City on Friday night.
With more than 1 million Christmas lights, the display has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the largest LED light image display in the world.
This year the display has been moved from the Richards family's Forrest home, with more lights, new colours and music in store for visitors until January 1.
The display will sparkle beside the ACT government's new 10-metre high Christmas tree.
Other festive activities include Flip Out in the City in Civic Square; the Floriade Kids Cubby House in City Walk; and the Asia Cup Dome in Garema Place.
