Hospital's IT system back online
Canberra Hospital's emergency department IT system is back up and running after staff were forced to revert to paper systems on Wednesday afternoon.
A glitch in the system forced the department to direct patients with "non-urgent" issues elsewhere.
"Patients who present to the Canberra Hospital Emergency Department who do not require urgent treatment should expect delays," Canberra Hospital and Health Services Deputy Director‐General Ian Thompson said.
"Work is currently under way to resolve these issues, but it is not clear when the work will be complete.
"People with less urgent conditions should consider other treatment options, such as General Practitioners, the Walk in Centre, or Calvary Hospital Emergency Department until the issues are resolved," Mr Thompson said.
Urgent patients were still seen at the hospital.
