Rosehill offers up Spotless form guide

There may be some richer races going around in Melbourne on Saturday, but the last at Rosehill could determine which horses could dominate the three-year-old guineas races in the autumn.

We could even see a few of them in Canberra on Black Opal Stakes day for the Canberra Guineas.

While the Rosehill race isn't restricted to three-year-olds, there are several top-line youngsters in action.

Topweight Better Than Ready resumes at the scene of his last win - the listed Brian Crowley - and can go on with it.

Another resuming is the speedy Ichihara, which won at group 2 level as a juvenile.

He was soundly beaten by Better Than Ready in the Brian Crowley but gets a nice three-kilogram claim here.

Then there's Raceway, which hasn't raced since losing to Ichihara in September.

He was Golden Slipper favourite at this time last year and a return to his best will see him very competitive. Of the older horses, Whitlam and I'm Cool look the best.

This frustrating four-year-old hasn't raced since producing a poor effort in the group 1 Epsom Handicap in October 2012.

But one thing we do know about the Chris Waller-trained gelding is that he's brilliant first-up, which means he's a great chance of winning on Saturday against a small but talented field.

$10 win Rosehill race 5, No.1 Said Com

He gets a generous claim thanks to apprentice Alysha Collett and will carry just 2.5 kilograms over the minimum.

Was given a 900-metre trial on January 22 and was brilliant when winning first up last time in. Too good.

$5 win Caulfield race 8, No.16 Minnie Downs

Over the odds here based on her most recent performance when a short-neck second to Danish Whiskey.

Races again here over the 1400, drops three kilos and Glen Boss is on board.

From a wide barrier she'll be put to sleep before winding up and storming home.

$5 win Rosehill race 7, No.7 Matignon

Pushes out to 1400m after showing some speed late over the 1200 last start.

She has no weight here and while she's up against a very handy horse in She's Clean, Matignon will given her a struggle for a long time.

2013 COLLECT: $144.50.
