Two dead in separate road crashes

Two men have died and a third remains in a serious condition in hospital after separate crashes on Queensland roads.

A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Robina died after crashing his bike on Brisbane's bayside on Wednesday.

Initial investigations suggested the rider lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the Esplanade at Lota about 10.55am.

The rider died at the scene.

A 56-year-old man died when his car rolled on the Bruce Highway near Bowen, in north Queensland, about 10.45am on Wednesday.

The man, from Townsville, died at the scene.

His passenger, a 58-year-old man from Mt Isa, was taken to Townsville Hospital in a serious condition.

The Bruce Highway between Homehill and Bowen was closed for four hours as police investigated the crash.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a crash on the Gold Coast involving a bus.

A car collided with a bus and another car which were sitting stationary at traffic lights at Nerang about 3.45pm, police said.

No one was injured, but police investigations are continuing.
