Agatha Christie’s classic ‘whodunit’, A Murder is Announced is coming to the nation’s capital. Produced by the team that brought the 60th Anniversary tour of The Mousetrap to Canberra, A Murder is Announced will see Christie’s beloved Miss Marple on the Canberra stage for the first time and for a strictly limited season of 8 performances only as part of the 2013/2014 Australian tour at The Canberra Theatre, CTC from February 22 -28, 2014.
10 lucky readers will win 2 x A-reserve tickets to see the show at 2pm on the 22nd of February, followed by a post-show high tea where mystery and intrigue are just the beginning.
A Murder is Announced was the fourth of twelve novels to feature the character of Miss Marple and the first of Christie’s works featuring the “sensibly heeled” sleuth on stage or screen. This 1977 adaptation is by Leslie Darbon who also adapted Christie’s Cards on the Table for the stage. Of the beloved Marple, Christie said “There was no unkindness in Miss Marple, she just did not trust people. Though she expected the worst, she often accepted the people kindly in spite of what they were.”
Agatha Christie’s whodunits have thrilled audiences that span many generations and continues to delight a new generation of theatregoers nightly with all the classic elements that have made Agatha Christie’s works as appealing today as when they were first written.
The Australian tour of A Murder is Announced is currently playing at the Sydney Theatre at Walsh Bay where it opened to rave reviews from critics across-the-board and will play seasons in Melbourne and Brisbane before opening in Canberra in February.
A Murder is Announced is produced in Australia by Michael Coppel, Louise Withers, Linda Bewick in association with Mousetrap Productions Ltd London.
