Friends of Amber Keating are thrilled the mum of two has found happiness again with Sydney's richest bachelor, John Symond.
The stylish soon-to-be-ex-wife of Patrick Keating, son of former prime minister Paul, is dating none other than mortgage broker and lender Aussie John. The couple, we hear, are incredibly happy.
Despite the age difference - she is 42, he is 65 - Keating and Symond have been on a string of dates since December and onlookers have spotted them at various restaurants around town.
They are apparently ready to take the next step and be seen together officially, especially with Symond's son Stephen's high-profile wedding to Ed Smith around the corner, in early February.
Keating, a private client relations manager at luxury brand Louis Vuitton and mum of Avalon, 6, and Slade, 4, has had a tough year as her marriage of a decade fell apart and she tried to finalise her divorce. Her former husband began dating stylist Penny Hunt only months after their split and they are expecting their first baby together in March. The settlement has not been finalised; the former couple reportedly haven't signed the divorce papers yet.
Although Keating wasn't available for comment, and Symond is overseas, a friend tells S they couldn't be happier for Keating.
''Finally she's seen the light at the end of the tunnel and it's a rainbow, it's just beautiful,'' the friend says. ''They have been friends for a while and both work together for charities, including doing work for the Sydney Children's Hospital. He is so lovely and treats her so well, she's just really, really happy.''
Keating is on the Silver Committee and Symond's philanthropy is well documented. He has been involved in Jeans for Genes and works with the Sydney Children's Hospital, opening his home to host its Gold Dinner in 2011, as well as working with the Children's Medical Research Institute and Friends of St Vincent's Private Hospital.
A friend of Symond says you couldn't find a nicer bloke. ''He adores her, he really does.'' Symond, who also has a daughter, is fantastic with kids, too. He has been known to babysit his friend Jane Flemming's twins and was named father of the year in 2012 for his dedication to organisations supporting disadvantaged children.
The couple are said to enjoy simple things such as dining out and watching films in his private cinema at his $50 million palatial Point Piper home. The four-storey mansion on half a hectare of prime harbour-front land has 24 bathrooms, two pools, a gym, a library, staff quarters and space on the ground floor to entertain 400 guests.
