Gabi Grecko, the partner of Melbourne businessman Geoffrey Edelsten who is one of the 101 celebrities targeted by hackers, has called the nude photo theft a "sex crime".

"I think it's extremely violating. If I want to post nudes or anything like that it should be because I consented," Grecko said.

"Anything took privately on my phone that I didn't realise, I obviously had my reasoning and it's just scary this person has gathered all of these images without consent because some things are just private."

Grecko, a prolific social media user who splits her time between Australia and New York, was named on a "master list" of celebrities and high-profile women who had photos stolen from personal Apple iCloud accounts and published online via online bulletin board 4chan.

The explicit photos, including more than 60 of Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, then went viral via photo sharing sites Reddit and Imgur.

The 25-year-old fashion designer and DJ took to Instagram upon hearing she had been hacked and posted a photo of her name listed in between other victims, actresses Gabrielle Union and soon-to-be mum Hayden Panettiere, with the caption, "4chan's master list of nudes hack list #4chan #wtf".

Edelsten is "disgusted" at the breach of privacy.

"It's disgraceful that personal information and photos can be stolen and dispersed to others," he said.

Three Australian actors, Warm Bodies star Teresa Palmer, Dexter regular Yvonne Strahovski and Sucker Punch's Emily Browning, also had private photos stolen and posted online.

Local representatives for both Palmer and Strahovski declined to comment on the incident when contacted by Fairfax Media.
