The royal couple are recruiting for a new housekeeper according to the UK Telegraph following the shock resignation of their former maid Amy Wood, who quit after spending five months looking after Anmer Hall, their refurbished, 10-bedroom house on Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

The role has reportedly been advertised in Lady magazine – the That's Life for the Dowager Countess of Grantham types.

"We are looking for someone with previous housekeeping experience, ideally within a large private house, and preferably within a family environment with dogs," the job advertisement states.

If you know how to steam Alexander McQueen gowns, rain guard suede Jimmy Choo pumps, clean silverware and glassware, know how to buy groceries and sometimes babysit the future King of England, his sibling, due in the coming weeks, and an excitable English cocker spaniel named Lupo then you are encouraged to apply.

Should you be successful, provided you have a valid UK driver's licence and pass the discretion and loyalty tests, you will score your own "self-contained accommodation" and will only be required to work Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and additional hours, perhaps when the owners are out, presumably serving their country or visiting the colonies, may be thrown in.

Applications close on April 5 which will no doubt be of some relief to Catherine's mother, Carole Middleton, who has reportedly been helping around the stately pile since Wood left last month.

"It is said she has chosen the new wallpaper and fabrics for the new baby's nursery and makes sure that the house is always stocked with Prince William's favourite sea salt chocolates," the Telegraph reports.

"Staff are said to refer to Mrs Middleton as the 'unpaid Fawcett', a reference to Michael Fawcett, the butler Prince Charles once relied on to run his household."
