Actress Kate Winslet refuses to sign pictures of her iconic naked scene in Titanic because she is still embarrassed by the experience.
The Brit stripped off for a scene in which her socialite character Rose DeWitt Bukater was sketched naked by Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack Dawson, and the memory still haunts her thanks to brazen autograph-hunters.
"I don't sign that [picture]. It feels very uncomfortable. Why would you do that? People ask me to sign that a lot," she told Yahoo! Movies.
Winslet adds: "There's a photo of it as well that someone has lifted from a still of the film, and that photo gets passed around too. I'm like 'No! I didn't mean for it to be a photograph that I would end up seeing still 17 years later'."
The original portrait sold at auction in 2011 for $16,000, which was originally sketched by James Cameron, according to ABC News.
The mother-of-three was asked to sign the photo at the British premiere of her new film Divergent.
“It's still haunting me. It's quite funny really, ” she says.
Ironically, the picture is a big part of her success.
The actress shot to fame in 1997 with Titanic being the highest grossing film of all time, that is until Avatar was released in 2009.
BBC News reports, the Oscar-winning actress recently admitted the pace in which she skyrocketed to fame was “one shock after another”.
"It isn't easy going through that level of exposure so quickly," she told the BBC News website.
She added: "What I do wish is that I had had more support going through those early days. It's genuinely difficult."
"I was living in my lovely little two-bedroom flat in north London ... and suddenly I couldn't just walk down the street and buy a pint of milk," she says.
Giving up her vanity, the A-lister was recently stripped of her make-up and was photographed in a series of raw pictures for the 20th annual Vanity Fair Hollywood issue.
The photographs were taken by award-winning photographer Chuck Close.
Close told Vanity Fair: “I don't do glamour shots, and they're not airbrushed or whatever.”
Winslet married Ned Rocknroll in December 2012, the third marriage for the star.
A year later she gave birth to her third child, Bear Blaze.
Although not uncommon for celebrities to give random names to their kids, Winslet recently revealed the circumstance behind giving their son such an unusual name.
“Bear's second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically,” Winslet told Ellen DeGeneres.
“The house burned down and we survived,” says Winslet.
“But we wanted something of the fire and so Blaze was the name that we came up with. Bear Blaze.”
