Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom have made their first official public appearance together in Australia since first showing their love at the Doncaster Derby Races in 2008.

The pair turned up at a star-studded event at the Park Hyatt in Sydney to celebrate the partnership of Qantas and Emirates.

The camera-shy couple have since married and had a baby, 20 month old Flynn. They have been snapped by paparazzi at airports but tonight Bloom stood by his model wife's side to support her role as an ambassador for Qantas.

"They are two of my favourite airlines. It's great news," said Bloom.

Kerr could not believe they had not been to an Australian event together for four years. "Really? We went to the Met Ball together. Oh but that's not Australia. My god you're right!" she laughed. "It's not on purpose. It's just tonight Flynn's in bed and we could come together."

Kerr is starring in campaigns to promote the Qantas Club in a bid to retain its lucrative frequent flyer customers.

The genetically blessed pair are in town with Bloom playing the role of stay-at-home dad while Kerr works, walking for the David Jones Spring Summer parade, promoting her beauty line Kora Organics and touting a new hair treatment.

"Well, yes, he's been looking after Flynn but he's also preparing for his role in Zulu. We're off to Africa next for filming," Kerr said.

A few weeks ago they managed to holiday at the exclusive Queensland resort Qualia without the media discovering them.

After Africa they will head back to their home in New York where Bloom is set to play Romeo in a Broadway adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
