Paris problems ... Pippa Middleton was in a car when a friend wielded a gun.

Weekend partying in Paris has turned sour for Pippa Middleton after an acquaintance drew a handgun and aimed at photographers.

Pictures published by British newspaper The Sun show the younger sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, in the front seat of a convertible as the male driver produces the gun and takes aim to the amusement of another man in the car.

French authorities are cracking down on gun crime in the wake of a recent shooting in Toulouse where seven people were killed, and police are poised to launch an investigation into Saturday's shocking event which could include Pippa's arrest, The Sun reported.

"If the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted," an unnamed source said of Pippa.

"Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation."

Even if the gun was found to be fake, punishment for such crimes can include jail time, The Sun said.

Since her appearance as bridesmaid at her sister's royal wedding to Prince William, Pippa, 28, has attracted global attention and is photographed on a daily basis.

The French photographer at whom the weapon was aimed at the weekend is reportedly considering making a formal police complaint.

  • That's right, only media get to harrass, threaten, and scare people. They also get the bonus of getting on a high horse and lecturing us about inappropriate behaviour too.

  • Papparazzi are a plague, they ignore privacy requests and invade peoples space, just to satisfy the drooling masses. It is understandable that someone would want to point something back at them. Not too long ago we lost Diana who was attempting to avoid these awful people, they should be subject to rules just like everyone else.

  • Fame by association has its downside. Who cares what the leisured classes do? Only the media apparently.

    • Oh no the paparazzi - it's obviously OK to brandish guns if you're a pill popping, champagne drinking, hellishly rich kid. Get real!

      • I'm with you Mach. And Caractacus, as for Diana it was most unfortunate but not at all a loss and don't forget Diana and others chased by the paparazzi are quite happy to use them when it suites their selfish needs.

      • @Snapper agreed...what happened to DIana was awful, but she was notorious for using and manipulating the media to get her side across - The Panorama interview and 'Diana her true story', anyone ?

    • The photographers was only taking a picture, if your famous this is one of the side effects. They had no cause to threaten the photographer with a gun. The Papparazzi are professional photographers, some do go over the line but to attack or threaten them with serious injury or possibly death is ridiculous. Hopefully the police in France make spectacle of this case to show that even the rich can't mock the law.

      • "professional photographers" thats irony I take it?. I dont think there is anything professional about these people, they are basically human parasites, and deserve no sympathy. What sort of fame did she signed up for? She's just a girl who's sister happened to marry into the royal family. This means she's now fair game to be stalked by photographers 24 hours a day does it?
