Prince Harry has upstaged his grandmother’s cameo at the Commonwealth Games by allegedly popping the question to an Australian hockey player before appearing in a candid photo with Team New Zealand.

“Harry proposed ... and I said yes! Great to have the girls there for that special moment,” Hockeyroos goalkeeper Rachael Lynch cheekily posted along with a photo of her meeting Prince Harry.
The prince met Lynch and the Australian team after their 3-0 win over England on Monday.
“Prince Harry ... Tall, handsome and very very charming!!” the Victorian-born, Perth-based star said.
“I asked him to move back to Melbourne with me so he will be at the next family catch up.”
While the Hockeyroos wind down and prepare to take part in the semi-finals (or plan a royal wedding), the prince was then snapped photobombing a group of New Zealand delegates while watching the swimming.
In the photo – of New Zealand’s sport psychologist emeritus Gary Hermansson, New Zealand rugby sevens coach Sir Gordon Tietjens and Sport Manawatu chief Trevor Shailer – the fourth in line to the throne can be seen in the background smiling and giving the thumbs up. Prince William is also in the photo but appeared more engaged with the action in the pool, where Kiwi Lauren Boyle won silver in the women’s 800m freestyle.
Harry’s antics at the Games lit up social media, something no he longer participates in after it was reported he used Facebook and Twitter for four years under the pseudonym “Spike Wells”.
“The issue for myself and my family, put quite simply, is that it’s very hard for me ... to tweet about something that means a lot to me, whereas I at the same time really quite hate Twitter by the invasion of privacy,” the prince told students recently.
