The Kardashian/Jenner/West family have never been one to do things by halves and Kanye West's Yeezy Season 3 launch and new album The Life of Pablo listening party at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Thursday certainly lived up to those extravagant expectations.
Kanye West drops album and fashion line
Kayne West's new album The Life of Pablo plays during the release of his fashion line Yeezy Season 3, but those who want to get their hands on it will have to sign up to TIDAL to get a copy.
Kim Kardashian-West showed up with platinum blonde hair, three-year-old North was centre stage in white fur, while the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew, including Kris, Caitlyn, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie, all attended in matching Yeezy 3 ensembles.
In the highly unlikely event that the Kardashian/Jenner clan might have sat down unnoticed, a bright white spotlight was put on them as they made their way to their seats.
"About to pull up with the fam!!!! I have butterflies," Kim tweeted before the show started.
Despite Kim's new 'do' (that looks an awful lot like a wig), it was Khloe's ex-husband Lamar Odom who is said to have received the biggest cheer. The troubled former LA Lakers star made his first official public appearance in a black beanie and green camouflage jacket to support Kanye as he recovers from a near fatal overdose after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel last October.
Other A-list stars included Naomi Campbell who modelled in the show, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, models Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid, Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing, rapper 50 Cent, Will Smith's son Jaden, and actor Melanie Griffith. Kanye also thanked Jay Z for being in the building, although he was not officially spotted.
Notably absent was Kimye's two-month-old baby boy, Saint. Although a fashion show and concert is no place for a newborn, the limelight-loving pair have yet to show off their little bundle of joy and speculation beforehand suggested that this would be the very night he would make his world debut. Her younger brother Robert Kardashian also skipped the show as rumours continue to swirl that he has fallen out with his famous, reality TV show family.
Unlike his previous two shows, the rapper-turned-designer showed off some colour this time around. Mustards, oranges and wine tones were prevalent throughout, alongside his more established khaki greens and black colours. While skintight lycra seemed to be the main fabric again alongside oversized jumpers, he also introduced some embroidery and beading that was most notably seen on Kim's older sister, Kourtney.
Kanye did away with a traditional catwalk once more and instead had his models pose in the middle for all to see as they listened to his new tunes. One model stood out - Campbell - who stood in the centre wearing black fur and a matching body suit.
Kanye calls Taylor Swift a "bitch"
As the music played one track titled Famous stood out to the crowd. Said to be about Taylor Swift, it includes the line, "I made that bitch famous," referring to the time he interrupted her acceptance of the Best Female Video award at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
She has yet to respond, but Tay Tay is never one to take beef lying down and has become know for her revenge tracks - case in point: John Mayer and Harry Styles. Watch this space.
Of course, no Kanye show would be a Kanye show without a lengthy speech.
According to E! News, Kanye addresses the crowd: "New York City! How are you feeling about my album? Tell me how you feeling about the clothes this season. I think I make money as a celeb or this is easy to do, one of the hardest things to do is to believe in me and come work with a rapper. It feels so good to see my brothers, my wife, her sisters, and all of New York standing behind the crazy n---a from the interviews. I want to thank Vanessa Beecroft. Adidas for paying this and supporting me."
Additionally, he tells guests, "My dream, I told Anna Wintour this backstage, to be the creative director of Hermes. I just want to bring as much beauty to the world as possible. I'm only 38 years old.
He also said: "This is really a gospel album ... and this is something that couldn't have happened without God holding me down. It's been a struggle. I feel so happy, I feel so much joy to create music without people s---ting on me, and I thank my wife and family for supporting me."
Some of Kanye's outrageous performance rules were leaked that including "no smiling", "no eye contact" and the contradictory orders of "loosen up, no stiffness" and "do not be casual". OK then.
