Cheeky cutouts and swimmers that are cut higher than the CBD's South32 tower have long dominated the runways of Perth Fashion Festival and 2016's offerings didn't disappoint.

In between Manning Cartell's Resort collection debut and a colourful flourish of Romance Was Born's couture type get-up, local labels and personalities have been the stand out performers at this year's showcase.

Natalie Rolt - a North Fremantle based designer and a favourite of The Bachelor stars Rachael Gouvignon - is one of the industry's emerging disruptors.

With WA's sluggish economy and the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures showing department store sales declining in the past year at a rate of about 8 per cent, Rolt has diversified her offering. Sales of clothing and accessories in Perth are 2.4 per cent higher than last year, something she is now capitalising on.

As well as offering her flashy, sausage casing gowns that make swimsuits appear modest and high-cut one pieces that have a touch of Kardashian sex appeal about them, Rolt's studio and retail space is a one stop shop for her target demographic of the young and beautiful.

Tanning, make-up services and the option to either rent or buy her designs are all available.

"Our customers can express their own style and create their own look with the wheel of colours and prints available to choose from for each design," she said. "Choice is a beautiful thing and opens an avenue for our style consultants to offer their recommendations of styling tips and tricks. We are a destination that can assist you from head-to-toe. A creative space bringing to you our very own in-house professionals to offer beauty services to complete your look."

Another shining light is Tash Butler's label BRUUG.

The designer, wife of West Coast Eagles star Sam Butler, used her new spring-summer collection to showcase local talent, such as illustrator Josh Rowdon. She will also be quick to market with international trends that are lighting up Instagram.

The highlight of the new BRUUG looks was the coloured, oversized denim jackets - similar to the one Kim Kardashian's wore recently designed by her husband, Kanye West.

The jackets caught the eye of Festival ambassador Christian Wilkins who confirmed he'll be adding the baby pink version to cart when it is available in the coming weeks.

The Festival was also the place to be for the A-list keen to let their hair down and relax. Australia's new sweetheart Nikki Gogan chose the Myer Lunch - albeit dressed by David Jones stocked designer Bec & Bridge - to re-emerge into the public eye following her shock elimination from The Bachelor.

Jennifer Hawkins, who has a soft spot for WA, jumped at the chance to head back west.

"I just love your vibe over here, I just like that you're not pretentious," she said.

The winner of Richie Strahan's final rose, Alex Nation, stepped out later in the week without her new beau. Instead opting to take in the Manning Cartell show with his sister, Alanah.
