Here’s how day six went down, blow-by-bubbly-blow:

6.57pm: One of the biggest names in Australian fashion is in Perth and I’ve forgotten to wear a proper bra, extra deodorant, hairspray and had to apply a fresh coat of make up in the bathroom at work with the dodgy light. Meg Gray if you’re reading this I’m sorry for my shambolic arrival to your west coast (creative) directional debut at An Evening with Flannel.

7.15pm: Walking into the WA Museum for Flannel’s first ever stand alone Perth Fashion Festival show all memory of seeing Kourtney Kardashian repping a frock on a recent episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians are gone (as are her comments about water births thankfully).

7.16pm: We’ve officially departed Perth 2012 and arrived at Les Deux Magots cafe circa 1920. If I squint and tilt my head to the side I’m pretty sure some of the guys here look like Hemingway’s motley crew. I wore palazzo pants so I’m practically Simone de Beauvoir amongst all the skirts and feminine dresses.

7.20pm: Lord Mayor Scaffidi has arrived in black and white sequins, the models are wearing pearls worth more than my life insurance and the Pommery Champagne is being served in dishes instead of flutes at the makeshift bar, and by makeshift I mean the bar is a one dimensional cut out drawn on cardboard.

7.30pm: Tonight’s sell out show is more than a pout off for those in the front row, $250 here buys you a two course meal, drinks and two viewings of the Neronis spring/summer collection.

7.32pm: As we are seated Channel Nine reporters Lee Steele and Ebbeny Faranda light the way to the banquet style tables dressed with white linen and fresh orchids - Steele looks a rosy treat in Flannel’s rose marabou skirt and Faranda is nailing it in neon.

7.35pm: The strawberry and lemon martinis are cleared away as the models, with huge Arrow Pearls pinned into their wet look chignons, take their first turn around the room. It’s like a scene from Midnight in Paris minus Owen Wilson’s fugly nose. Former Voguette Gray, who styled the show, is a much better director than Woody Allen.

7.37pm: The collection features lots of sheer sheaths, sparkle, coloured prints, tiered skirts and short shorts. This is what you would wear if you were planning on moving out of the Little House on the Prairie to go and get amongst the Prohibition.

7.42pm: The overtly feminine showcase has the women on my table commenting on how pretty the models are with the occasional “I’d wear that” and “oh that’s nice”.

8pm: Dinner is served and I’m committing carbo-icide devouring a bowl of traditional gnocchi with asparagus spears, grilled artichokes laced with micro herbs (which I don’t think are illegal) and a hazelnut dressing.

8.32pm: I see Gray sitting at the table opposite me and stare a little too long, I’m pretty sure if I don’t look away soon I’ll be receiving a restraining order rather than a goodie bag. Ever since seeing her work at Alice McCall’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia show earlier this year, where buyers from David Jones whispered frantically to their assistants “order three of everything”, I’ve continued to follow her AV (after Vogue) career via her blog.

8.45pm: The second act of the evening has begun – more see through bits and pieces, more natural monochromatic cotton and a silk house coat with dusty rose tassels is my pick of the collection.

9pm: Back to the food – dessert is now being served in the form of mini crème brulees and grapefruit and ginger curd with rhubarb and vanilla sorbets.

9.05pm: A tray of mini mint macaroons is doing the rounds, I summon the waiter and take two, he smirks that “you’re going home alone aren’t you?” smirk... so I take two more.

9.35pm: After seeing Perth’s couture queen all week I finally get a chance to talk to Emma Milner, she’s loved this year’s Festival and has been buoyed on by the influx of bloggers, so much so that she’s joined, and is now addicted to, Twitter. Follow her just to catch a glimpse of her envious collection of Louboutins.

10.44pm: “Sorry folks, it is a Monday and we have to vacate the venue,” the wait staff tell the stragglers. PFF director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan asks for one more sip of Champagne before being told to move across the road to the Peroni Bar at The Court Hotel to pre-load for tomorrow night’s closing gala.
