Miranda Kerr the third highest paid model in the world: Forbes magazine

Miranda Kerr is the equal-third most highly paid model in the world, according to rankings released today by Forbes magazine.

Kerr, who was ranked second on last year's list, tied in third spot with Kate Moss, Liu Wen and Kate Upton, each making around $US7 million ($7.57 million) in 2013/14.

The Brazilian supermodel earns a whopping income well above her catwalking co-stars, including Australia's Miranda Kerr.

None came close to Gisele Bundchen, who earned $US47 million in 2013/14 - about $US16 million more than her American football quarterback husband, Tom Brady.

Bundchen has taken home $US386 million from modelling since 2001 and has lucrative contracts with global brands Chanel and H&M, as well as having deals with beauty brands.

Bundchen also gets a slice of sales from jelly sandals she designs for shoemaker Grendene and is the face of Pantene hair products and Oral-B in Brazil, where she also has her own lingerie line.

Kerr has been described as a "mogul in the making", with the 31-year-old juggling modelling, writing self-help books and even designing skincare products and fine china teaware.

Then there's her complex and often controversial personal life, the son she has with actor Orlando Bloom, three-year-old Flynn, and around four million Twitter followers.

"It's just who I am. I'm a bit of everything. Just like every woman, I have so many facets - there are so many different elements to who I am," Kerr says.

Forbes calculated the earnings from June 2013 to June 2014 for the models and looked at income from cosmetics, endorsements, advertising and fragrance deals.

The 21 models on the Forbes list made a combined $US142 million.
