Yesterday was day two of Australian Fashion Week.

There was a lot of lace, many sheer textiles, little jumpsuits, skinny trousers and several embellished swimsuits.

Toni Maticevski showed grown-up sophistication: sculptural tailoring, a muted palette and strong shoulders and hips, all the better to emphasise a tiny waist.

Flowers for a Vagabond designer Toby Maclean grew up in regional NSW, and he showed bleak chic gear, then vivid hues contrasted with sparkling metallics and fringing.

Maclean is to donate some of the proceeds of sales from this collection to the Wayside Chapel, a ministry founded by Ted Noffs.

Roz Wright, of Canberra boutiques Soho Dezigns and Momento Dezigns, who has attended Australian Fashion Week since its inception, said her top trends for spring-summer 2012-13 from a buying point of view were ''sports luxe'', fluoros, metallics, beautiful prints, peplums and butterfly sleeves.
