The week in fashion

The Good

Rachel Weisz looked incredible at the premiere of The Bourne Legacy wearing Raf Simons for Dior couture fresh from the runway in Paris. Structured and strapless with an amazing inset corset, the dress was finished with a split up the side.

Waved hair, red lip, knock-out shoes - this is how it's done.

The other Rachel (Bilson) also showed that style is in the simplicity rocking this blush and black combination. Cigarette pants, pointy pumps, satin pussy bow and pop of fuchsia on the pout.

She killed it.

The Bad

Oh dear. What do you think made Clare Bowen choose this dress? The band of neon yellow on the hem? The upholstery fabric denim-wash blue? Oh wait, maybe it was the sweetheart neckline?

The fish braid, the bat wing liner...don't look at the shoes.

I love Lisa Kudrow. She's funny and real. I love that she's ageing withe grace. I feel bad dissing this dress but it transcends niceties. Any other frock on the planet would have been better than this one.

Seriously. The piping, the asymmetric line - she needs to sue someone.

The Snap

Stella McCartney wore the pant suit version of the chinoiserie inspired print from her latest collection.

On the other side of the world ... Jaime King wore the skirt suit version of the same print.

The Shoe

These are shoes that would make Dorothy jealous. Tyra Banks shut the red carpet down in these skull embellished pumps from Alexander McQueen. Major cool. Major chic.

    • It depends entirely on the outfit. Rachel Weisz's got it - "busy" shoes go with a simple dress and working-girl shoes don't look good on anyone.

        • ...very witty indeed... and there is another witticism by Jean Cocteau; "la mode c'est ce qui se démode" roughly translated as ..." Fashion is what becomes unfashionable"...

        • And thus, Oscar Wilde will be remembered for the same repulsive hairstyle for centuries.

          P.S. Poetry is boring!

      • I guess I did not get the memo on the diamond encrusted skull trend. I dont get the hype on these peep-toes, peeps.

        • I dont get the skull trend at all (nor the neon trend!). The shoes would actually be nice without the skull. Only Stella could pull off that look. Rachel Bilson rocks the outfit :)

          • Sorry Paula, I think that you got it wrong. Rachel Weisz looks great except her DISGUSTING shoes. She would have looked immensely better if she had worn plain black heels, but not too high. Rachael Bilson looks good but her shoes are too high so that she ends up showing too much of her toes and the line where her feet enter the front of the shoe is too sharp.

The others are also all wearing shoes that don't look good and detract from their outfits. Personally, I think Lisa Kudrow looks fine except for a bad choice in shoes.

            • Would have these shoes without the skull. Like the studs around the edge. Very cool. :)
