Love's finale dress was a custom-made creation by Sydney bridalwear designer Moira Hughes. The styling brief was to ensure the gown embraced Love's love of Disney.

"Georgia is a mad Disney fan so once we landed on the princess style of dress with the middle split, the beaded off shoulder neckline and plunging back, the Cinderella blue colour was a no-brainer," Ten's senior stylist Anne Stringer told Fairfax Media.

Hughes, a designer who studied at the London Fashion School and has worked for Pallas and Johanna Johnson, usually creates wedding gowns for between $5000 to $10,000. She recently designed an ensemble for cricketer Ellyse Perry and jumped at the chance to create a one off gown for Ten's popular reality series.

The Cinderella-esque French silk crepe gown that Love wore to choose her Prince Charming Lee took three weeks to create.

The project involved seven staff working "around the clock" according to Hughes, to meet filming and travel deadlines.

The sheer lace seen on the back of the dress was shipped out from Paris specifically for The Bachelorette. Hughes is hoping to use the excess fabric for another look for Love. Perhaps one with a priest instead of a producer?

"When she came in for her fittings she was looking through the wedding dresses and seemed to like what she saw, hopefully when she's ready, but for now I'm focused on some of the girls' spring racing outfits," Hughes said.

"I love these projects as it gives me the opportunity to push the envelope and take some more creative risks. My team were also thrilled to finally work on a different colour that wasn't a shade of white."

The designer worked predominantly off of Love's measurements and Stringer was blown away by Hughes' "centimetre perfect" accuracy as the dress didn't need any alterations during the third and final fitting.

It is the first season of The Bachelorette that Stringer had worked on after several years styling the local Bachelor franchise.

She knew the finale gown was one of the most important elements of the series and collaborated for weeks with Hughes to ensure it worked on screen.

Last year's finale gown worn by Sam Frost was panned by fans as it was a repeat look Stringer had previously used on The Bachelor.
