International all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who is also a member of the Australian women's football team, hit the formal dress code for a six wearing a black, sleeved gown encrusted with crystals by Australian designer Rachel Gilbert.
"I prefer green grass to red carpet any day," she said, dismissing suggestions she looked at home in the fashion spotlight, even though with her nude, dewy make-up and softly tussled up 'do she could have been mistaken for a Fashion Week model. Albeit a model arriving three months before the show descends on Sydney's Carriageworks.
Former Miss World Australia and partner of Ben Cutting, Erin Holland, was mistaken for an Aussie Kate Hudson in a chilli red Pallas Couture gown slashed at the waist, front and back. Possibly because just hours earlier, Hudson wore a similar Versace gown to the atelier's haute couture show in Paris.
Red carpet veterans Kyly Clarke and Lee Watson both donned varying shades of burgundy for the evening.
Unlike last year, Clarke forfeited complete creative control of her ensemble. She ditched the Strictly Ballroom razzle dazzle she opted for in 2014 and cut an elegant figure in a custom-made Steven Khalil ruby red column gown with sheer panels.
"He asked me what I wanted and I just said maroon and something extremely classy," Clarke said.
Watson, wife of Shane Watson, debuted her baby bump at her eighth AB Medal outing.
The soon-to-be mother-of-two, who was styled by Aleysha Campbell – Samantha Armytage's preferred stylist – wore a scarlet lace sleeved gown by George Elsissa with subtle train.
While her husband plays a mean over, the former TV presenter's accessory game was just as strong on Tuesday night thanks to her vintage yellow gold and black oynx Fendi earrings.
Steve Smith's partner Danielle Willis and Peter Siddle's girlfriend Anna Weatherlake both looked as regal as Elsa from Frozen in striking stark white frocks.
Weatherlake, an advocate for clean living and even cleaner eating, had Melbourne's One Day Bridal custom make her an elegant gown, boasting an embellished bateau neck and waistline, without the use of any fabrics derived from animals.
