Jackie French shares the magic of sunflowers

We watched them for hours, as kids, the great shaggy heads turning sunwards, hoping to catch them actually moving, or even find a lazy one that refused to do its duty and keep facing the sun. But every sunflower, slowly, imperceptibly, kept following the sun as it progressed across the sky. Even on cloudy days and one eclipse where we tried to catch them out each bloom still followed the sun.
