Last year Mathers, 30, circulated a photo of a 70-year-old nude women in the change rooms of a gym in Los Angeles to her Snapchat followers with the caption: "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."

Worldwide condemnation followed before the 2015 Playmate of the Year was banned from the LA Fitness gym franchise for life. She was then charged for taking and distributing a nude photo, which is illegal without someone's consent in California.

In her first interview since her trial, where she didn't contest the charges but received 30 days of community service and three years probation, Mathers has opened up about the public's reaction to the case.

"I had my privacy taken away after I took someone else's," she told ABC News.

"To hide out at my mother's house at age 30 because of something I've done. It just felt really low."

She admitted that she has yet to meet the victim despite wanting to.

"...there's just been a lot of unresolved issues," she said. "I never meant to hurt her. I never ever intended on showing the world this photo. And that I hope that she could forgive me. I don't expect her to forget. I don't expect her to like me. I just, I really want her forgiveness."

After the video surfaced last year, Mathers apologised via Snapchat. Sort of. At the time she said the photo was not supposed to be shared publicly to her "story".

"My intention was to reply to the conversation I was having with my friend. I know the difference between right and wrong and I chose wrong," she said.

Mathers was sentenced to either 45 days in jail or 30 days of removing graffiti.

She chose the latter and starts this week.
