EMMA WISE AND FLORENT HOUSSAIS
MANOIR DE LA NOE VERTE, BRITTANY, FRANCE

The meeting
Emma and Florent met while he was in Australia on a three-year expatriate contract with his French company. Emma was working as an auditor at the time in the same office building as the company Florent was working for. "He left a cute little note on my desk one night for me to receive the next morning asking to go for a coffee (it was so funny because I thought he was the cutest guy I'd ever seen and thought I had absolutely no chance so it was a big shock!)," says Emma. Two weeks later Emma impulsivley accepted an invitation to go with him to a wedding. "It was the most amazing trip," she says. "And that's where it all began!"

The proposal
The proposal happened in the surf at their favourite Sydney beach, Freshwater. "He nearly lost the ring in the water because the waves were so rough that day!" says the 26 year-old.

The wedding day
"The whole day was amazing and so much better than we expected!" says Emma. They had planned everything from Sydney prior to the wedding and were not sure if everything would run smoothly. They held the ceremony in the Town Hall of the town where Florent grew up and made their vows in front of 50 guests. The reception was a much bigger affair with 150 guests in attendance. They tried to incorporate a mix of French and Australian elements into the day such as having traditional dancing from Brittany as well as a beer keg at the reception. "There were also surprise speeches and presentations from family and friends. We were so lucky to have guests from all over the world at our wedding including Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, South Africa, and the UK," she says.

The dress
Emma wore an Aire Barcelona, strapless, organza, A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and a matching lace bolero. It featured a cathedral train and a layered skirt. It came from Bridals Originals in Roseville.

The cake
They had a salted butter caramel icecream and meringue cake (the traditional flavours of Brittany, where Florent is from) that was provided by the reception venue.

The photography
The photos were taken by Didier Ropers Photographe.

The honeymoon
They went on an African Safari.
