Anything but average

Date

He proposed at an 'averagechef' contest, she arrived at the wedding in an icecream truck and the 'wedding waltz' was a flash mob dance to Party Rock.

Annie Lo and Raymond Tran

Annie's self proclaimed main reason for dating Ray was hotel industry discounts. Indeed, Ray's wheeling and dealing saw him nab one room, worth $25,000 a night, for just 4 per cent of that price.

The meeting

They were going on a group holiday to Blueys Beach, when mutual friends
'conveniently' arranged for Annie to go in Raymond's car.

Annie is adamant her main reason for dating Ray, a hotel manager, is for the hotel
industry discounts.

Using these discounts Annie and Ray have travelled around the world. Ray was
particularly proud of his discount wheeling and dealing when he managed to get a
$25,000 a night suite, at the Palms hotel in Las Vegas for his
bachelor party, for just 4 per cent.

The proposal

For her 30th birthday party, Annie, a web developer, had organised a Masterchef theme, where
guests were the 'contestants'. Complete with branded aprons, they participated in an "AverageChef" style cook-off, which was judged by Annie and Ray.

As Ray stood up to present the winner, he turned to Annie and proposed in front of all their friends.

Annie's response: "Yeah, I guess so. You're ruining my party here."

The wedding

Always a clever and comical couple, their wedding day did not disappoint. Annie arrived at the ceremoney via ice-cream truck that came complete with ice-creams: each of the 200 guests was given their choice of choc-top from a customised menu, made by the bride.

Instead of a bridal waltz, a three song medley merged into a Party Rock flash mob dance. A guitarist friend then kept everyone entertained with renditions of unusual wedding music, including the Home & Away theme song, Tetris and Super Mario themes.
