ANNA MEKHITARIAN AND FRANK TORCASO
ST MARY’S CATHEDRAL, SYDNEY AND LE MONTAGE, LILYFIELD, NSW
Anna and Frank met through mutual school friends at a birthday party about five years ago. “From there we started talking, dating, going to restaurants, movies...we then moved closer and met each other's families and travelled to Europe in 2010,” says Anna.
All the guests thought they were there to celebrate Frank’s 30th birthday. But Frank took everyone, including Anna, by surprise when he proposed during his speech in front of 200 family and friends. “The night then turned into an engagement celebration,” says Anna.
The wedding day
Anna and Frank had a big, traditional wedding with 440 guests and a bridal party of 16. It was a highlight for them to be able to be married in the iconic St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney. “We got lucky when our wedding date was available at St Mary’s Cathedral,” she says. “We wanted a traditional and classic style wedding, with the boys wearing black suits, ivory dinner shirts and bow ties. We steered away from making everything matchy matchy on the day.”
Anna wore a traditional ivory princess ball gown with a beaded lace bodice and a layered tulle skirt. It featured a satin waist band and a seven metre cathedral train. It was designed by Suzanna Blazevic.
They had a five-tiered cake decorated with ivory fondant icing and sugar pearls. It was made by a good friend of Anna and Frank, Assunta Sinicropi at A Party Cake.
The photos were taken by PM Photography.
They spent four weeks in Honolulu, Maui, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
